Comparing 17 mid-size SUV’s.
At carfacta our editors spend some time in researching the best 2020 subcompact SUV. We selected 17 mid-size/subcompact SUV and compared their specifications and ranked them with a user rating based on independent user reviews. You can read the summaries on our website or watch the individual reviews on our youtube channel.
The worst rated 2020 mid-size SUV’s:
Let’s start with the subcompacts you should avoid: the worst rated is the 2020 Nissan Kicks. We do feel that the average rating is in line with the price compared to the best ranked models. Your wallet will not be raided but you will have to live with an average car with potential airconditioning issues.
The 2020 Audi Q3 also ranks average. It’s price is on par with the best rated mid-size SUV’s but owner rate the Q3 just average. For it’s price the Audi really under-delivers with way too few included features.
Best Rated American SUV
The best rated all American subcompact sports utility vehicle is the 2020 Ford Ecosport. Nothing wrong with the ecosport when we consider price and performance but Ford seems to have cut corners on the interior quality compared to the European competition.
The Economical Choices:
Two European subcompact SUV’s came out at the top: the 2020 BMW X2 and the 2020 Volvo XC40. European brands seem to top the list of best rated subcompact SUV’s. They will however cost you almost $15.000 more than the runner-up Toyota and Honda.
This is no surprise since this category of cars has a huge marker in Europe: Volvo & BMW have put a lot of effort in these models to rule the home market. Prepare to hurt your wallet, both come at a higher price than the other subcompacts.
But if you want the best performance and driving comfort the X2 and XC40 are the best of breed in the subcompact sports utility vehicle segment.
