3 min read

The people have spoken! With an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars on and an overall 4.3 star rating on Kelly Blue Book, consumers are boasting a warm reception to the new 2020 Toyota Tacoma model(s). With its sleek design, roomy interior, and powerful motor there are many reasons customers are raving about this truck. Capable of towing up to 6,800 pounds, climbing up a mountain, or cruising down the highway, some describe it as a “do it all” kind of vehicle. Many consumers report that regardless of what they are doing in their truck, be it driving down the interstate or accelerating through a rock quarry, the inside of the cab remains very quiet.

There are some new features this year that set the 2020 apart from its 2019 counterpart such as: a standard 7-inch multimedia touch screen, Apple Car Play, Android Auto, Alexa capabilities, 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, new headlight and taillight design, and an updated front grille design. Outstanding safety features, push to start technologies, and a rear power window cater to consumers interested in a truck that is both durable and comfortable.

That being said, there is no “perfect truck”. Let’s look at some of the cons consumers had about this year’s model. Gas mileage and speed seem to be the top concerns with the vehicle, with many stating a noticeable lag upon acceleration. However, with all of the performance energy being demanded of the new Toyota, a slightly decreased gas mileage and sluggish acceleration seem understandable. Other small grievances regarding the Tacoma appear to be mostly cosmetic in nature, such as the size and sound quality of the speakers or grab handle placement. Toyota understands consumers’ attention to detail and offers over 30 configurations, making the Tacoma very personable.

We’ve heard from consumers, now let’s see what the experts had to say upon review of this year’s model. As mentioned earlier, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma is highly customizable. Many buyers do not feel the need for a full-size truck, so a mid-size pick up is appealing. Next comes the choice of engine size. You can opt for the base engine, a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder unit with 159 horsepower, or spring for the V6 3.5 liter with 278 horsepower. You can customize it even further still by choosing your cab and bed sizes. The double cab comfortably seats up to five people, and the bed can be either five or six feet long. Technology features such as Alexa capabilities, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, and multiple USB ports are fitted as standard on the new model. The truck also sports off road and multi-terrain modes, AWD, an underbody cam, and a rearview mirror camera mount. Some superb safety features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection and lane-keeping assistance. With a price range of about $27k-$47k the vehicle is affordable, dependable, and will maintain its resale value for years to come.
