The end is looming for this muscle car
The all American classic muscle car, the Camaro is most probably almost end of life. The muscles in our cars have been moved to more powerful trucks and SUVs in the past decade. After the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, Chevy will most likely only build two more model years. The Camaro first appeared on our roads in 1966 and have been roaming our streets for the past 52 years. Let’s look forward to the 2021 Chevrolet Camaro and hope Chevrolet will produce another gem.
Sales have slumped for muscle cars in the recent years and it makes sense that Chevy intends to scrap the car from its lineup. This rumor is stated in this fox news report. Both direct competitors, the Ford Mustang and the Dodge Challenger have been less popular. The Camaro is nearing less than 10000 units sold per month as of the publishing time of this article. Not the most popular kid in the general motors lineup.
Chevrolet tries to change the directions of the sales with an emergency cosmetic redesign of the 2020 model. And despite recently cutting prices the sale numbers are not going up.
What can we expect from the 2021 Camaro
Another cosmetic redesign is implausible for the 2021 model year. We expect the Camaro to bleed to a slow death in the last 2 model years. Whilst the Camaro is nearing its end of life Ford is still investing in a hybrid version of the Mustang. Dodge is also getting ready for an all new Challenger in 2021. The question “What’s better, Mustang or Camaro?” will probably no longer be a frequently asked question for muscle car enthusiasts.
2021 Chevrolet Camaro Engine Options
The Camaro comes in 4 model options. From the entry LS to the track ready ZL1. Let’s see how the 2021 Camaro lineup will most probably look like.
Chevrolet Camaro LS Model
At a base 275 horsepower 2.0L engine this is the base Camaro model. Not so much muscle but it has the badge and the look of the Camaro. Transmission options include an automatic 8 speed paddle shift. Or for the the more refined drivers a standard 6-speed manual transmission.
Chevrolet Camaro LT Model
The LT models comes in 3 trim levels, with the 3LT the highest trim bringing in a 3.6L 335-hp V6 engine, Chevrolet Infotainment 3 Premium with Navigation, and premium audio.
Chevrolet Camaro SS Model
The SS model comes in 2 trim models, both bringing in a 6.2L 455-hp V8 engine. This is a real muscle car. The 2SS trim adds the most premium and luxurious interior options.
Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Model
The ZL1 is the monster, the beast in the muscle car lineup. Its monstrous 6.2L V8 engine brings a whoppig 650 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque. Transmission options are a 6-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching or an available paddle-shift 10-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Chevrolet Camaro Interior & Exterior
Exterior options differ by model. One of the most important exterior options is the Camaro Shock body color with all satin black mirror caps and spoiler. What we love on this type of are the wide range of ground effects. The grille has been redesign end the hood is much higher now. We love the manly look. This Camaro has more balls. And pretty LED headlights.
As for the interior leather heated and ventilated seats are possible. The interior looks slick, aggressive and bold. For those with cold hands a steering wheel with heating is an option. As this is sports coupe, cabin space is just roomy enough for passenger and driver.
2021 Chevrolet Camaro Reviews
The reviews of past model years are more often than not indicators of the quality and reliability of future car models. Owners seem to rate the car between 4 and 4.5 out of 5 stars. As it is the quickest, best handling and most fun Camaro to drive. This is however not a car for snowy and cold climates. The car is also retro-cool but still very modern .The most negative mentioned point is that the car has a huge blind spot. Maintenance and repairs are very costly to do. If you are looking for quality, the quality is far below that of a german sports coupe.
